Course Description
An introductory course to oceanography covering the dimensions of the science of oceanography, the physical and chemical properties of sea water, waves, tides, currents, life in the ocean, and the geologic structure of the ocean floor, environmental concerns, and human use of the oceans. (3 hours lecture) WCC DP

This section of OCN 201 will be taught via distance learning technologies. The lecture sessions will be broadcast on television ('Olelo). These sessions will also be available over the Internet as downloadable mov or mp4 (podcasts) files from the course Laulima site. The class will be administered via Laulima.

Note, while I recommend that you co-enroll in the companion laboratory class, OCN 201L when it is offered, you are not required to do so. There are no pre-requisites nor co-requisites for this class.

If you have a specicial interest in the ocean, then please consider enrolling into the Marine Option Program (MOP). MOP provides undergraduate students with opportunities to engage in ocean-related activities, projects and internships outside of the conventional classroom.
